An L-1 work visa is issued to an executive of a company that has worked with his/her company outside of the USA for at least one year. Dependents receive L-2 visas and a spouse can apply for an EAD. Trouble is, if the exec is laid off, all of the dependant visas immediately expire and both the exec and his/her spouse must leave the USA!
Any ideas how to alleviate this issue? Getting a H1B visa is impractical since they are so scarce.
Also in this case, is the exec's employer liable for relocation expenses?

My company filed my 7th year H1 extension and my wife's H4 petition at the same time in Dec 2006. USCIS online case status shows received and in process for both H1 and H4.
Recently, we upgraded to premium processing. However, only the H1 case status now shows as being done under premium processing. Does that mean that only my H1 will be premium processed and not H4 even though they both were filed together. Is this normal. I am hoping both H1 and H4 will be premium processed. I know that USCIS adjudicates H4 also in premium processing for such cases as a courtesy. Just wanted to know if anyone has been under similar situation before and got only their H1 approved in premium and not H4....The whole purpose of me upgrading to PP was to get H4 approved before the H1 quota begins in April as our H1/H4 were expiring this summer and my wife's employer is filing a H1 COS petition for her in PP under the 2008 H1 quota....Didn't want to take any chance of her H1 COS getting approved without a I-94 because of her current H4 expiring in summer.

Priority Date : Aug 2004 (EB3-I)
I-140 Approved date : Jan 2007
I-485 Filed date : July 2007
Currently using : H1-B (8 th year running)
EAD & AP : I have both EAD & AP but not using it at this stage.
Now i got an offer from Company B but they can accept only EAD or GC with Good salary and position. I am really tired of getting low salary with company A as they started taking advantage of me.
Now if i use EAD card to move to company B (by using AC21) and once i get a green card (don't know when ??) do i have to come back to company A and work for one or two years as GC is for future employment ? Is there any rule like this ?
I am also planning to have my personal attorney after moving to Company B to take care of AC 21 and other communications.
I am not sure Company A will allow me to move at this stage and i cannot waste my life with this company for a low salary so i want to move and make some progress in my life.
Have any of you moved like this and got GC ? Will there be any issues ?
Please advise.

It is a hard situation for me. I-485 interview for AOS is due in just 3-4 days from now. I am separated from my US citizen wife.Have not filed for divorce. I am employed in the US on a valid L1-B visa.
Our marriage may or may not work..
1. I need advice as to how to withdraw the I-485 AOS application. I do no have copy of documents/notices that USCIS sent.They are with my wife.
Or
2. If we do work out our differences then is there a way to keep the current AOS alive? Or shall I get the current one withdrawn and file for a new one if we do resolves our differences?
3. Also if I do withdraw the I-485 does it also mean that the I-130 filed by my wife is abandoned/revoked automoatically?

I am sorry to ask...If H1B doesn't have I-94 attatched to it and it was approved when my friend was in india, he can work on L1. My question is, if he moves out of country and get H1B stamped, can he work on L1?
As it is not a change of status. If he gets it stamped on his passport and enters the county on H1B. YES he can. I strongly recommend to get his visa stamped in India until unless he has a US degree.

Yes you can apply for EAD and AP separetly anytime
The only catch I found out recently is that when you use AP to travel back to US, this may invalidate the H visa and you will need EAD.
I am still not clear of this issue. I applied for EAD few months ago and found out this may be an issue , so have applied for AP (By e-filing) now

1. My colleague crossed 2 years after filing 485. Frustrated with GC processes, he is switching company for better career prospects. He is using his EAD and invoking AC21. Is it possible for me to use his labor? If no, why?

The reflection in the wet sand is good & colors are nice, but I agree with Don that there is too much sky for the scale of the figure. I had to look for the silhouette, because the clouds drew my eye to the left of center. A little saturation work would probably make the colors even more appealing. Just my opinion, your mileage may vary. ;)

As I understand the process, if your date is current, the USCIS will accept your application - meaning they ARE processing applications with a priority date matching or exceeding yours.
During the July 2007 fiasco, the cut-off dates were current, allowing everyone to apply. If we submitted our application and the date is current at the time, why do we have to wait until our date becomes current again? Shouldn't they process the application within 6 months or less?

My wife has worked on a project and got some money on 1099. and as I said earlier that she has taken SSN based upon her EAD.
Does it mean that she has started using EAD ?
